Brain Enhancement (BE) Mindful Therapy® Workbook: Volume II
Brain Enhancement (BE) Mindful Therapy® Workbook: Volume II
Volume II of the Brain Enhancement (BE) Mindful Therapy® Workbook represents the natural progression from understanding the model to applying it in everyday life. While Volume I establishes the foundational principles of BE Mindful Therapy, this volume goes beyond structure to introduce real-world applications across diverse environments, populations, and stages of life.
Volume I answers the question:
“What is BE Mindful Therapy® and how does it work?”
Volume II answers the question:
“How do we apply BE Mindful Therapy—effectively, consistently, and meaningfully—in everyday life?”
This is where the BE-MT system becomes contextual, personalized, and integrated across the major domains of life.
From Foundation to Application
BE Mindful Therapy is not a passive mindfulness approach. It is an active system of brain engagement designed to help individuals direct attention, strengthen mental processing, connect the brain and body, and develop a more positive sense of identity and future direction.
In Volume I, readers are introduced to four integrated components:
Grounding Objects (GO) to train and redirect attention
Cognitive Impact (CI) to strengthen encoding, awareness, and mental processing
Mindful Exercise (ME) to activate the brain-body connection
Possible Positive Self (PPS) to reinforce identity, purpose, and future direction
Together, these elements form the functional BE-MT loop:
GO → CI → ME → PPS
In Volume II, this loop is put into action within dynamic, real-world settings—where attention may be challenged, stress levels may change rapidly, and expectations for learning, performance, productivity, and adaptation may be high.
This workbook explores specialized applications of BE Mindful Therapy® in areas such as athletics, education, workplace functioning, and aging. Each application demonstrates how the foundational BE-MT principles can be adapted to the needs, responsibilities, goals, and challenges of different individuals and environments.
Athletes may use the model to strengthen concentration, manage performance-related stress, and maintain a constructive mental focus. Students and educators may apply BE-MT principles to support attention, learning, memory, emotional regulation, and classroom functioning. Individuals in the workplace may use the model to improve focus, manage daily pressures, strengthen decision-making, and create healthier responses to occupational stress. Older adults may apply the system to remain mentally engaged, physically active, purposeful, and connected as they navigate the changes associated with aging.
The goal is not to apply one identical mindfulness procedure to every person or situation. Effective application requires an understanding of context. The exercises and procedures in this volume are designed to help readers determine how to adapt the BE-MT model without losing its essential structure.
Volume II translates theory into action through structured exercises, worksheets, self-assessments, visual learning tools, and practical protocols. Readers are encouraged to examine the environments in which they live, learn, work, perform, and age—and then identify how attention, cognition, movement, identity, and stress interact within those environments.
The workbook also continues the practice of Let’s Mindergize, which integrates aerobic exercise, mindfulness, positive affirmations, and visualization. These practices are intended to reduce chronic stress, strengthen mental fitness, support emotional resilience, and create conditions that may encourage positive neuroplastic change.
I developed BE-MT from decades of clinical experience, research, and work with individuals facing a wide range of psychological, behavioral, physical, and stress-related challenges. One lesson has remained consistent throughout that work: understanding a therapeutic model is important, but understanding alone is not enough. Meaningful change occurs when knowledge is practiced, personalized, and consistently applied.
Volume II helps readers move from knowing the BE-MT model to living it. It provides a practical framework for applying mindful brain engagement across real situations, changing demands, and important areas of daily life.
This workbook is part of a three-volume set accompanying my 2025 book, Brain Enhancement (BE) Mindful Therapy®. Volume I provides the essential foundation for all applications of the model. Volume II presents specialized applications across everyday environments and populations. Volume III provides mindful procedures for individuals working in high-intensity professions, including first responders and military personnel.
Separating the material into three volumes allows each area to be explored with greater depth, precision, and clinical meaning without overwhelming the foundational material. Together, the volumes serve as practical, hands-on guides for translating the BE-MT model into purposeful action.
